‘Teen Mom’: Gary Shirley apologizes for using gay slur on Twitter – Examiner.com

June 8, 2011 — Boyfriend of ‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood, Gary Shirley has apologized for using a gay slur on his Twitter account. The MTV star used the slur during an angry post about his defective cell phone on Tuesday.

Gary Shirley, who is the father of ‘Teen Mom’ Amber Portwood’s daughter, Leah, took criticism for the gay slur. “So p—ed lost my phone today so got A. find it or B. get a new one or C. activate the gay a– droid…ughh sorry for any droid lovers,” Gary tweeted.

However, once people began to point out Shirley’s choice of words, he quickly apologized. “The word Gay is used with several meanings I did not use it to describe a person, but an object. so don’t take it out of context. But I do apologize to anyone I offended. I won’t use that word again…I have no problem with a person[s] sexuality,” Shirley wrote.
