Salem Man Arrested; Faces Drug, Assault Charges – Patch.com
A Salem man was arrested in Malden Friday after allegedly refusing to stop his vehicle after an officer suspected he had conducted a drug deal, police said.
Upon inspection of the vehicle near the Everett line on Broadway, police said they found a “large” bag of heroin and a separate bag of Suboxone, a scheduled prescription medication used to wean addicts off of painkillers like OxyCotin.
Fidel Miranda, 38, of Salem, was arrested and charged with one count of drug possession to distribute, another simple drug possession charge, two charges of refusing to obey police, as well as assault and battery on a police officer.
The final charge, Malden Police Captain Tom Swanson said, was the result of the suspect allegedly hitting the cruiser at high speed.
A second man in the vehicle was not arrested, Swanson said.
