Nakia goes for win on ‘The Voice’ – Times-Journal
Fort Payne native Nakia Reynoso has a chance to become one of the final four contestants on NBC’s “The Voice.”
Coach Cee Lo Green saved Reynoso from elimination on Tuesday night, and then, Reynoso performed “Whataya Want From Me” by Adam Lambert.
After his performance, Reynoso said, “That felt great. I love you, guys.”
Coach Adam Levine of Maroon 5 said Reynoso’s power was impressive.
“You forced me to like [the song],” Levine said. “You’re such a great singer.”
Country superstar and Voice coach Blake Shelton said Reynoso’s performance was awesome.
“That was like awards show-type performance,” Shelton said. “Congratulations.”
Pop sensation and coach Christina Aguilera said she always enjoys watching Reynoso perform.
“You’re so entertaining,” Aguilera said. “You have great stage presence.”
Of his contestant, Green said he wants Reynoso to go all the way.
“My man is going to be the next big star,” Green said. “What do I want from you? I want you to win, Nakia.”
In Wednesday night’s elimination round, America’s votes and judge’s scores from Tuesday night determined if Reynoso stayed to compete in the finals or if his teammate, Vicci Martinez, moves on to the finals.
Reynoso is a graduate of Fort Payne High School and former director of the Big Wills Arts Council. He now lives in Austin, Texas.
