Michele Bachmann, Netflix: Hot Trends – TheStreet.com

NEW YORK (TheStreet) — Popular searches on the Internet Tuesday include Michele Bachmann following the first debate Monday of candidates seeking the 2012 Republican nomination for president.

The Minnesota congresswoman said she filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Communications Commission on Monday and was officially an eligible candidate. One of Bachmann’s primary stances was in opposition to President Obama’s health care reform law, which she pledged to repeal if elected.

“Netflix” is a hot trend after a recent survey said the amount of users who stream Netflix(NFLX) content and are considering cutting back on pay-TV services had doubled in the last year. The Diffusion Group found that the need to save money was the primary reason for consumers to downgrade their pay-TV service, though heavier Netflix streamers were more likely to blame Netflix as their reason for cutting back.
T-Mobile is another popular trend as the company is running a special promotion for Father’s Day on June 18. In the promotion, customers who sign up for a two-year contract will receive $10 of credit toward their account every month for a year. The deal is open to new and existing customers who are 18 months or more into their contract. AT&T (symbol) proposed in March to buy T-Mobile USA , a unit of Deutsche Telekom(DT), for $39 billion.
The chatter on Main Street (a.k.a. Google, Yahoo! and other search sites) is always of interest to investors on Wall Street. Thus, each day, TheStreet compiles the stories that are trending on the Web, and highlights the news that could make stocks move. — Written by Brittany Umar.
