KNOXVILLE – The Knoxville Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery that occurred early this morning on the World’s Fair Park grounds.
At 1:39 a.m., police responded to West Depot Avenue at Broadway, according to KPD Sgt. Scott Coffey.
When they arrived, they met a man who told them two males about 20 years old and wearing all black clothes tried to rob him near the fountains at the north end of the park, he said. The man stated he received several cuts to his forearm from an altercation with the suspects.
He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation was conducted and the incident has been referred to KPD’s violent crimes unit.
More details as they develop online and in Tuesday’s News Sentinel.
