Former Christian Dior designer John Galliano is set to stand trial on Wednesday for the anti-Semitic slurs he hurled at fellow bar patrons in Paris this past February. Prior to pulling a glorified Mel Gibson, however, Galliano was a bona fide superstar in the fashion world. His designs graced red carpets and runways the world over, and were favored by everyone from Carla Bruni to Gwen Stefani. With his career in shambles and a six-month prison sentence looming, we take a look back at John Galliano’s better days.

The stylish French first lady has long been a loyal Dior fan, often choosing Galliano’s designs for official engagements. Seems pretty logical to us, considering the fashion house is, after all, French (though Galliano himself is a Brit). We’re betting Carla will continue rockin’ Dior in the wake of Galliano’s expulsion, but she should probably burn the curve-hugging gray Dior sheath (left) she wore back in 2010, when the now-disgraced designer was still at the line’s helm.
