BASTROP, Texas — A boil water notice has been put in effect for residents in Bastrop County.

Aqua Water Supply is telling those who live east of Highway 95 from Bastrop to Elgin and east of 304 from Bastrop to Delhi to boil their water.

Officials say low pressure due to the massive wildfire has damaged portions of the Aqua Water Supply system. They say the loss may have allowed harmful microbes into the water system.

Repairs will begin when the area is safe to re-enter.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous boil and then boiled for two minutes.
